Two toddlers who go to the same Kitchener day care are, according to this story, sick with E.
coli.
Chris Komorowski, a food safety manager with Waterloo Region's health unit was quoted as saying in an interview last night that, "We need to identify the source of the disease," adding that it is unclear if the children were exposed to the bacteria at the day-care centre, but that is the common link right now.
The story says that Child Care Plus, which cares for 57 children, is still allowed to operate, but the public health unit has imposed some restrictions.
Group trips outside the day care are limited.
Staff are not allowed to work in other day cares, seniors homes or other health-care centres. And sick children can't return until tests show their infections have cleared.
A sign has been posted at the day care warning the public of the outbreak. If there are no new E. coli cases in the next five days, the outbreak will be declared over.
