Charlottetown -- Thirteen people, according to these stories, got violently ill after drinking contaminated water at a P.E.I. restaurant this month, but health officials feel it wasn't necessary to tell the public.
Dr. Lamont Sweet, the province's chief health officer, was cited as saying it wasn't necessary to inform the public because the owner of the restaurant closed it immediately and no treatment was required for those who got sick.
The Charlottetown Guardian was cited as saying the 13 contracted the Norwalk virus after drinking at Reuben's Seafood Cafe in
Darnley.
Tests revealed bacteria in the water that left the diners with diarrhea and vomiting.
No one was hospitalized and everybody has recovered.
