An inner-city donair restaurant and its three owner-operator family members were handed a total of $20,700 in fines Wednesday after pleading guilty to several charges under the Public Health Act.
Shawarma King and principal shareholder Nadia Menham were each fined $1,150 by provincial court Judge Judith Shriar for failing to comply with proper temperatures in cooking the meat. Her father Kadmous Menham received $4,600 in fines on four charges.
Nadia's brother Sam Menham, the on-site manager of the restaurant at 1423 Kensington Road N.W., had $13,800 in fines imposed for seven offences, which occurred between December 2004 -- some three months after the restaurant opened -- and September 2006
