DINE SAFE TORONTO: 14 restaurants cited for food violations this week



This week, Toronto Public Health issued 14 conditional passes to food establishments for crucial and significant Food Premises Regulation infractions.

One or more such infractions were observed at each noted establishment during inspections between Wednesday, Aug. 14 and Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Food establishments in this report include restaurants, food court vendors and takeout food locations.

CONDITIONAL PASS

CAFE ON THE GO, 1226 ISLINGTON AVE.

Food Takeout

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 19.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4C and 60C.

• Fail to provide thermometer in refrigeration equipment.

CHAKO BARBEQUE & ISAKAYA, 2190 MCNICOLL AVE.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 15.

• Use food equipment not of readily cleanable material.

• Use equipment not suitable for intended purpose.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide clean wash water.

• Use food equipment not in good repair.

GOLDEN STAR RESTAURANT, 2133 JANE ST.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 15.

• Use utensils not non-toxic in contact with food.

• Fail to ensure food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food areas.

• Use dirty towel for cleaning utensils.

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

• Use food equipment not in good repair.

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during inspections Aug. 6 and 19.

Aug. 6

• Fail to ensure storage racks designed to protect against contamination.

• Fail to ensure food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food.

• Fail to remove wastes when necessary to maintain sanitary condition.

• Sanitize utensils in chlorine solution for less than 45 seconds.

Aug. 19

• Fail to collect waste when necessary to maintain sanitary condition.

KAIRALI, 1210 KENNEDY RD.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 19.

• Fail to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Mechanical equipment not maintained to provide clean wash water.

• Fail to clean multi-service articles after use.

MIDTOWN GASTRO HUB, 1535 YONGE ST.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4C and 60C.

• Fail to maintain hand-washing stations (liquid soap and paper towels).

• Fail to protect against harbouring of pests.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 19.

• Fail to provide hand-washing stations with adequate supplies (hot and cold water).

• Fail to provide hot and cold running water in utensil washing area.

A conditional pass was issued after the following Food Premises Regulation infractions were observed during an inspection Aug. 19.

• Store potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature between 4C and 60C.

• Mechanical equipment not constructed to maintain wash water between 60C and 71C.

• Fail to retain records of pest control measures taken for one year.

• Hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible by food handler.

• Fail to provide equipment for cleaning and sanitizing utensils as required.
