Excellence In Public
Health Award
TrainCan, Inc. - the source for food safety -
is pleased to accept nominations from the foodservice, retail grocery industry and the public
health sector with regard to a public health inspector who has exhibited leadership and an
extraordinary commitment to public safety particularly in the area of food handling.
This award is presented annually at the Excellence in Public Health Awards Luncheon
held during Canada’s national food safety conference.

This is a chance for the public health sector to be acknowledged for the work that they do everyday and the important responsibility that goes along with it.
Deadline for nominations: December 14, 2007
To qualify for nominations
Candidates must:

Be employed in one of Canada’s provincial health units
-
Have spent time in the field during calendar
2007 performing inspections
-
Demonstrate leadership and be a positive role model
-
Have provided an exemplary contribution to his/her constituents and the community
at large
Consider the following information when filling out nomination forms
Sometimes Public Health Inspectors carry a heavy load.
Sometimes due to extenuating circumstances Public Health Inspector are
under extra scrutiny.

What circumstance did your nominee have to deal with.

Was your nominee been targeted by media, a special interest group, a
company.

How did they respond?
Sometimes Public Health Inspectors can help save a “sinking ship”?

What particular concern faced this business and why did it need to be
helped?

What did the Public Health Inspector do?

What above and beyond assistance did they offer? How effective was it?
Who can apply
Candidates can be nominated by any member of the foodservice, hospitality, grocery
or c-store industry (including fast-food operators, upscale independent restaurants,
hoteliers and suppliers) or by another public health representative. Self-nominations
are welcome.

material that will add impact to your presentation. Nominations should include a
statement of approximately 100 words listing the reason for your choice.
Judging
All nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by a committee of industry peers
selected by TrainCan,Inc. The selection committee may require further details of the
nominees achievements and reserves the right to withhold the award if no suitable
candidates are presented.
Award
The winner will be flown to Toronto and honoured at the TrainCan Excellence In Public
Health Awards Luncheon held February 2008 during Food Safety
Forum 2008. The
winner will also receive a commemorative award.
Deadline
Nomination forms must be received by TrainCan,Inc. no later that Friday December
14, 2007. Winners will be notified by the end of January 2008. For further Information
