The Wendy's Restaurant on Prospect Street has taken the proper measures
to contain the E. coli incidents that occurred early last week, says the
provincial government.

Four confirmed cases of E. coli were linked to salads prepared and
served at the Wendy's location prior to Oct. 27.

Dan Moore, the owner of the Wendy's franchise on Prospect Street, said
all required precautions have been taken, and customers can safely eat
salads, as well as any other menu items.

"It's unfortunate, and we are concerned about the community," Moore
said. "We are indeed taking this very seriously. The senior
vice-president of Wendy's was here (on Saturday) to inspect the
restaurant."

Public health services issued a news release regarding the incident
Friday, which stated that Wendy's would remain open.

In the release, public health officials said there was no cause for
alarm, as proper measures had been taken.

Public health services is continuing to investigate the matter further.
