Guelph, ON -- On August 27, 2009, a conviction was registered against
Gregory McKelvey in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville for one
count of violating the Health of Animals Regulations. He was fined a
total of $1,500.
Between March 1 and April 19, 2007, Mr. McKelvey caused the receipt of
19 head of cattle that did not bear approved tags, as required under

The CFIA enforces national identification and movement reporting
requirements for cattle and bison under the authority of the Health of
Animals Regulations. Animal identification is a fundamental component of
livestock traceability. The ability to identify animals and their
origins during an animal health or food safety emergency is paramount to
the success of the response operation and the protection of human and
animal health.
