ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED ALLERGENS IN LOTTE BRAND SNACK FOODS FROM KOREA

OTTAWA, August 26, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning
people with allergies to almond, egg, milk, peanut and soy not to consume the Lotte
brand snack foods described below. These products contain allergens which are not
declared on the label.

All codes of the following Lotte brand snack foods, imported from Korea, are
affected by this alert. Product information can be found on the package and the
sticker applied for the Canadian market.

These products are known to have been distributed in Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and
Nova Scotia. However, they may have been distributed nationally.

There have been no reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of
these products.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in
persons with allergies to almond, egg, milk, peanut and soy.

The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. 
The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

ALERTE À L'ALLERGIE - PRÉSENCE NON DÉCLARÉE D'ALLERGÈNES DANS LES COLLATIONS DE MARQUE LOTTE IMPORTÉES DE CORÉE

OTTAWA, le 26 août 2009 - L'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA) avise
les personnes allergiques aux amandes, aux protéines d'oeuf, aux protéines de lait,
aux arachides et au soja de ne pas consommer les produits de marque Lotte décrits
ci-dessous. Ces produits contiennent des allergènes, alors que l'étiquette ne le
mentionne pas. 

Tous les codes des collations de marque Lotte ci-dessous, importés de Corée, sont
visés par ce rappel. L'information au sujet des produits se trouve sur l'emballage
et l'étiquette apposée pour le marché canadien.

On sait que ces produits ont été distribués en Alberta, en Ontario, au Québec et en
Nouvelle Écosse. Cependant, ils pourraient aussi l'avoir été à l'échelle nationale. 

Aucun cas de réaction allergique associée à la consommation de ces produits n'a été
signalé.

La consommation de ces produits peut déclencher une réaction grave, parfois
mortelle, chez les personnes allergiques aux amandes, aux protéines d'oeuf, aux
protéines de lait, aux arachides et au soja. 

L'importateur retire volontairement du marché les produits visés. L'ACIA surveille
l'efficacité du rappel.
