ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED SOY PROTEIN IN HIGH LINER SIGNATURE HADDOCK BREADED FILLETS

OTTAWA, March 28, 2008 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and High Liner Foods Inc. are warning people with allergies to soy protein not to consume High Liner Haddock Breaded Fillets described below . The affected product may contain soy protein which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, High Liner Signature Haddock Breaded Fillets, is sold in a 680 g package bearing UPC 0 61763 06790 7 and lot code 8045U.

This product has been distributed nationally. 

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein. 

The manufacturer, High Liner Foods Inc., Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

ALERTE À L’ALLERGIE - PRÉSENCE NON DÉCLARÉE DE PROTÉINES DE SOJA DANS L’AIGLEFIN FILETS PANÉS DE MARQUE HIGH LINER SIGNATURE

OTTAWA, le 28 mars 2008 - L’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA) et High Liner Foods Inc. avisent les personnes allergiques aux protéines de soja de ne pas consommer l’« aiglefin filets panés » de marque High Liner décrit ci-dessous. En effet, ce produit pourrait contenir des protéines de soja alors que l’étiquette n’en fait pas mention.

Le produit visé, l’« aiglefin filets panés » de marque High Liner Signature, est vendu en emballage de 680 g portant le CUP 0 61763 06790 7 et le code de lot 8045U.

Le produit a été distribué à l’échelle nationale. 

Aucun cas de maladie associé à la consommation de ce produit n’a été signalé.

La consommation de ce produit peut déclencher une réaction grave, voire mortelle, chez les personnes allergiques aux protéines de soja. 

Le fabricant, High Liner Foods Inc., situé à Lunenburg (Nouvelle-Écosse), retire volontairement du marché le produit visé. L’ACIA surveille l’efficacité du rappel.
