ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED FISH IN WESTERN FAMILY LIGHT CREAMY CAESAR DRESSING

OTTAWA, October 02, 2008 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and E.D. Smith
Foods, Ltd. are warning people with allergies to fish not to consume Western Family
Light Creamy Caesar dressing described below. The affected product contains fish
which is not declared on the label.

The affected product, Western Family Light Creamy Caesar dressing is sold in 475 mL
containers bearing 0 62639 23175 0 and Best Before 09 JN 03.

This product has been distributed in Ontario and Western Canada.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in
persons with allergies to fish.

The manufacturer, E.D. Smith Foods, Ltd., Winona, Ontario is voluntarily recalling
the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness
of the recall.

E.D. Smith Foods, Ltd., avisent les personnes allergiques au poisson de ne pas
consommer de vinaigrette césar « Western Family César crémeuse légére » décrite
ci-dessous. En effet, le produit visé contient du poisson alors que l'étiquette n'en
fait pas mention.

Le produit visé, la vinaigrette césar « Western Family César crémeuse légére » est
vendue en contenants de 475 ml portant le code CUP 0 62639 23175 0 et la date «
Meilleur avant » 09 JN 03.

Le produit a été distribué en Ontario et dans l'Ouest du Canada.

Aucun cas de maladie lié à la consommation de ce produit n'a été signalé.

La consommation de ce produits peut déclencher une réaction grave, voire mortelle,
chez les personnes allergiques au poisson.

Le fabricant, E.D. Smith Foods, Ltd., de Winona (Ontario) retire volontairement du
marché le produit visé. L'ACIA surveille l'efficacité du rappel.
