TrainCan Inc. was established in early 2000 and introduced the Canadian basic food handler employee-level training program (course book and on-line version), BASICS.fst. In addition, ADVANCED.fst was introduced as a Canadian training food handler option at the management level. Both of these programs conform to the Canadian Food Retail and Foodservices Regulation and Code, Health Canada, Provincial Regulations and CFIA. The administrative support for these programs is handled through the Pickering, Ontario office. 

TrainCan also offers Allergen, Gluten, HACCP, WHMIS, Inclusion, Cannabis, Slips and Falls training programs.

History

The food safety, food handler training journey (now TrainCan, Inc.) started in the late 1990’s, it began via Kostuch Media Limited promoting and marketing an American food handler program. In 1999 work also began on a Canadian employee certification program (BASICS.fst) and a Canadian management level program (ADVANCED.fst). In 2000 TrainCan was formed and then in June of 2002 Jim Kostuch joined TrainCan as Vice President and CEO. 

Since that time TrainCan has certified hundreds of thousands of individuals with food handlers certification and workplace safety certifications across Canada. TrainCan remains a leader in Canadian food handler training and certification for both in class, virtual and online learning.
